BIOL 3220 - Biogeography of the American Southwest


4 Semester Hours
Biogeography of the American Southwest is a field course involving travel to the southwestern United States that explores the geology, climate, and biodiversity of the American Southwest.  Emphasis is placed on the formation of arid lands and forested “sky islands”, ecology and evolution of desert-adapted organisms, the role of plate tectonics and climate change in promoting population divergence, and the conservation of desert biodiversity. Summer travel and camping are required for this course.
