This course introduces students to the major artists, artworks,; themes of Latin American art history from 1930 to the present day, with an emphasis on experimental practices following WWII We will engage with the global interconnectedness of art from Latin America in ways that reveal how histories of colonization, modernization, revolution, dictatorship, social movements, immigration,; uneven economic relations have influenced stylistic developments While art from the region will be the primary vector of our exploration, the intersections of gender, race, class,; sexuality will regularly factor into course content, readings,; class discussions
