PHYS 3400 - Computational Physics 4 Semester Hours In this course we will learn a variety of numerical techniques; how to apply them to problems in physics This will include the computation solution of various ordinary; partial differential equations Some of the problems tackled will include realistic projectile motion accounting for air resistance; the rotation of the earth, the problem of gravitational orbits in a three or more body system, chaotic behavior of classical oscillators; the relaxation method to solve the Laplace equation Familiarity with a computer programming language will help but is not required The implemented language is taught as part of the course
