AMSL 2000 - American Sign Language and Deaf Culture III


4 Semester Hours
AMSL-2000 builds on skils learned in AMSL 1010 , with emphasis on increasing receptive and expressive fluency. Students engage with multiple genres of American Sign Language (ASL) literature as well as scholarship on ASL linguistics and on Deaf culture. The course introduces issues related to the fields of interpreting and Deaf education, and provides training/practice for signing in a range of specific contexts. The class includes immersion of field experiences at MS School for the Deaf.

Prerequisites: AMSL 1010  or equivalent placement score
